MSN Search Star Terms and Conditions

1.This competition (the "Competition") is open to residents of the United Kingdom ("Territory") aged 13 and over except employees of Microsoft Limited ("Microsoft") and their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies and their immediate families (defined for the purpose of these rules as husband, wife, mother, father, sister, brother, son, daughter, or persons residing in the household of such employees), and anyone else professionally connected with this Competition. The promoter reserves the right to verify the eligibility of entrants and check their identity. Entrants who are under 18 must seek their parents' or guardian's permission before entering this Competition.

2. Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these terms of service ("Terms") when they enter this Competition as described in paragraph 5 of these Terms.

How to enter

3. The Competition will start at 12.01am Greenwich Mean Time ("GMT") on 26/11/2007 and end at 11.59pm GMT on 26/02/2008 (the "Competition Period"). No entries received outside the Competition Period will be eligible to win a prize.

4. To be eligible to win a prize, entrants must register at http://www.msnsearchstar.co.uk (the "Website") and attempt to correctly answer 25 general knowledge questions in the five subject areas of Music, Movies, Sport, News and Technology. Entries will be submitted via an online data-collection mechanism. No responsibility will be accepted for entries lost, delayed or damaged in transmission. Only one prize-draw entry per email address may be submitted.

5. If any person is determined to have breached these Terms they will be disqualified. In the event that a Winner is disqualified the judging panel will select an alternative Winner. The judge's decision is final.

How to win

6. Monthly prizes: each month during the Competition Period, one entrant whose name is selected in the Search Star prize draw will win an Xbox 360 Halo Special Edition console. The first monthly winner will be selected on 31/12/2008 and the last on 01/03/2008.

7. No entrant is eligible to win more than one Monthly Prize for the duration of the Competition Period.

8. No cash alternatives to the prizes set out at paragraph 6 are available.

Privacy

9. The collection of personally identifiable information for the purposes of this Competition will be subject to the Privacy Statement at http://privacy.microsoft.com/en-gb/default.aspx. Specifically, the data collected through this Competition will be used only in connection with the running of this Competition, including (without limitation) for the purpose of sending an email to entrants to confirm whether the entrant has won a prize or not. All personally identifiable information will be deleted approximately six (6) weeks after the Winners are selected. By entering this Competition, you expressly consent to the use of your personally identifiable information in accordance with the Privacy Statement.

General

10. If any provision or part of these Terms is deemed void or otherwise unenforceable in law then that provision or part shall be deemed excluded and the remainder of these Terms shall remain in force.

11. These Terms, the conduct of this Competition and the interpretation and enforcement of these terms and conditions shall be exclusively governed and construed in accordance with the laws of England, unless you are a Scottish resident, in which case you may choose the law of your own country of residence. Entrants irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of England and Wales, unless they are a Scottish resident or a resident of Northern Ireland, in which case they may choose the courts of their place of residence.
